Should Children do housework?

Our class have been discussing whether children should do house work or not.
My first reason for doing house work is because parents work for you so you should do work for them. My second reason for doing house work is because it gets you off the ps2. And you learn house work for when your older and my third reason for doing house work is because you like your parents.
On the other hand some people said you shouldn't do house work for your parents. My first reason for not doing house work is some people might find it boring also they might not like it. My second reason for not doing house work is people have better things to do for example play on the ps2 or play football or cricket outside and my third reason for not doing house work is when you get older you will own a house and you will have to do house work so this is the only rest we will get from doing house work.
I have looked at both arguments and I have made my mind up. I think that children shouldn't do house work because adults got all the muscles and children's time will come.

I think kids should help clean the house because the moms and dads need help and the kids make the mess.

As a pre-teen/teen/adult I did housework, along with my brother and sister. We had three sets of rotating chores that were supposed to get done Sunday mornings. Vacuuming the house, washing the bathroom and kitchen floors, cleaning the bathrooms and shower, dusting the house. Split up three ways and changed weekly.
It prepared me for moving out of my parents' home and on my own.
I agree that children should NOT do house work because they are still children. Childhood only comes once in a lifetime.

I think that kids should do chours because we would be helping our parents by giving them a break for working so hard to keep us safe, happy, sheltered and more.
Yes.i think kids should do a bit of house work.But i still hate it!
I think doing homework is kind of fun. If you are bored you can do your homework. When you do your homework it will pass your time with fun. Shadman
I think kids should do house work, but not ALL the time, once in a while is OK. But not doing house work is giving a big work to your parents! Hey they brought you to this world, the least we can do is HELP THEM OUT!

I do thank my mother who really pushed us to collaborate with the house chores. I think it made us, especially my brother and I, more appreciative of what traditionally was a "woman's" job. Somebody has to wash dishes and take garbage out, it doesn't have to be the girl. If we all collaborate, it makes us all the better and the house will be cleaner.

i think this is a great idea because my mom really does alot of work and my dad does too but i only do a little of work i think one day i will help them all day so they dont get stress out.
