Martin Luther King Jr. Day was established to honour Martin Luther King Jr. because he worked to make sure that the rights of African-Americans and other minorities were put into place.
After his death, legislation was put forward to make a day to honour King. Many people liked the idea but lots of people didn’t because they felt he should not be the only person who was honoured for fighting against racism.
When the day wasn’t made, many people protested by signing a petition. Six million signed it!
The first Martin Luther King Jr. Day was on January 20, 1986. Arizona only approved the holiday after a tourist boycott to protest because Arizona did not have the day.
Why don’t you make a poster about Martin Luther King Jr. to display in our hallways?

He's done so much to stop racism. He taught us so much. King Jr really earned a day to honour him.

She just listens to his speech

I dream that every child won’t have to live in fear of anyone and won’t have to live in pain of others,
I dream of a safe future for everyone so they won’t have to fear the dangers around the corner,

I dream that no one would be discriminated and will be seen for who they are and not for who they aren’t ,

I dream of a world where flowers can bloom and won’t be destroyed by other’s rage towards each other,
I dream that no one would force anyone to get involved in something someone else started when they don’t want to,
I dream that no matter how bad life becomes, we won’t forget the beautiful things we’ve seen and the happy things we’ve done in life.
